Flock Cameras Suspended in Ralls County

September 02, 2026

As of Tuesday, 09/01/2026, the Ralls County Sheriff's Office has suspended the use of FLOCK cameras. As an agency, we only had one FLOCK camera operating, and it was in the northbound lanes of US 61 near Spencer Creek. This camera has been covered with black plastic. The other camera we possess is attached to our mobile traffic (speed) trailer. That trailer is in the parking lot of the Sheriff's Office for now.
We have set up a meeting with our representative for FLOCK.
Some of our questions are: What information is being retained? Who has access to the information? Do you sell any information you obtain from the cameras? Plus many more.
I am in favor of the original purpose I was sold on for the cameras, which is public safety, i.e., receiving notifications from FLOCK pertaining to dangerous wanted persons, endangered elderly persons, and abducted and endangered children. However, media stories and concerned citizens have brought to my attention that there may be more to the system than I am aware of.
Until I am satisfied with the information I receive from FLOCK, the Ralls County Sheriff's Office will not be operating them.
