7th Annual Scarecrow Contest

The Paris Area Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring its Annual Scarecrow Contest. This is their 7th year of hosting this event.
Rules of the contest are:
-Participants MUST register their entry with the Paris Chamber
-Can be made of ANY material. Should be designed to stand up to our ever-changing autumn weather
-Be upright and be secured to nearby features that are approved, such as trees, lamp poles, etc.
-Displays should not obstruct pedestrian traffic on sidewalks and should be angled to be visible to oncoming traffic and pedestrians
-Contestants should provide all materials necessary to display a scarecrow. NO COMMERCIAL SCARECROWS allowed
-Downtown business owners are encouraged to join. They may place their scarecrow in front of the storefront WITH the title for display and name, business, or organization
-DO NOT AFFIX ANYTHING TO A STREET LIGHT WITHOUT THE CITY’S PERMISSION. IF YOU ARE AN ORGANIZATION USING A VACANT LOT, PLEASE OBTAIN PERMISSION TO USE.
The categories are Traditional, whimsical, or humorous. Scarecrows must be family-friendly, no adult, political, or excessive “gory”. The chamber reserves the right to remove any scarecrow deemed as distasteful or against the rules.
Displays must be up by October 6 and 8am. There is NO ENTRY FEE.
Registration forms can be found at www.parisareachamber.com and email the forms to info@parisareachamber.com or drop off in the Chamber mailbox. The registration forms ends October 6am at 8am, winners will be announced Oct 31, 2025.
